A Tranquil Wood
This painting was inspired by some beautiful woods close to my home in the Peak District. This is a peaceful place and I often walk here taking my sketchbook. Light filters through the leaves creating dramatic shadows over the forest floor where grasses and flowers grow in abundance, expressed by abstract marks in the foreground and you can imagine the scent of flowers on the breeze.
